Recently in Cove Bay, Aberdeen, the council opened a new grammar school mainly for those within the community. To reach the school, the kids and staff must cross a busy dual-carriage way using traffic lights and go around some shops. The council spent months to put all these infrastructures together to aid the crossing of the road safely.

The problem is this made the path to school a little crooked! As I drove to work one morning I couldn’t help but notice most of the kids crossing the lawns and going over some barriers. Why are the kids doing this? Everyone likes a straight path!

Isa 45:2 says “I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight:…” God want us to walk in straight paths too! Why? Well, a straight path is always the shortest distance between two points. Notice that Straight paths aren’t shortcuts. Its more than shortcuts.  God doesn’t use shortcuts. He uses straight paths. The devil often presents ‘shortcuts’ but they are really traps. With God we are always on the shortest cut possible – the Straight Path!

God wants us to get to our destination on time and with optimal effort. I know this because God also walks in straight Paths! Obstacles often lead us into crooked paths. But if we walk with God He makes the crooked path straight! He removes the obstacles and gives us a highway through Life.

Listed below are 5 main benefit of walking in a Straight Path:

  1. We will go the shortest possible distance to get to our Goal and in shortest time!
  2. Our destination and goal are always in our focus! Even though it may not be physically in sight due to obstacles or distance (time).
  3. All our effort takes us towards the goal. In crooked paths it is not so as direction is always changing, and some effort leads you away from the goal.
  4. There is no need to stop or ‘brake’ to stay on course. In crooked paths you need to brake and stop resulting in wasted effort!
  5. We are in the same direction all the time. Not so in crooked path!

Trust God today to lift your obstacles and give you a highway through Life today in Jesus Name!

Amen!
